Share the Road--Shelby, OH--October 10, 2007 : ATA's Share the Road Program rolled into Shelby Ohio for "Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day". American Trucking Associations Professional Drivers along with the State Highway Patrol, Shelby City Police, and representatives from the Richland County Health Departments Safe Communities organization were on hand to offer tips to students and teachers on how to stay safe on the highway.

NTDC--New Orleans, LA--August 14-19, 2006 : The National Truck Driving Championship was held in New Orleans this year with 381 drivers competing. I apologize for the poor picture quality on most of the indoor course shots. I tried to compensate for the poor lighting conditions with an ISO of 1600, but the shots turned out very grainy and of poor quality. I did not realize this until I returned home and downloaded the pics on to my computer.

50th Anniversary of the Interstate System Cross Country Convoy--Denver to Akron--June 21-27, 2006 : The convoy left San Francisco on June 12 and was due to arrive in Washington DC on June 30. It re-traces, in reverse, the 1919 convoy Dwight D. Eisenhower was in led by the army. This convoy commemmorates the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Interstate Highway Act signed by President Eisenhower in 1956. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel on the portion between Denver Colorado and Akron Ohio. These are some shots from that leg of the trip. Trees for Troops--Chicago, IL--Dec. 11, 2006 : FedEx Freight and the Christmas Spirit Foundation partnered again for the second annual Trees for Troops event. FedEx picked up trees in 27 states and donated transportation and logistics to deliver the trees to 25 military bases. Over 11,000 trees were given away to our activated troops overseas and their families here in the US. This nunber is up from 4,300 last year! The photos in this gallery were taken at Great Lakes Naval Station in Great Lakes Illinois. This was the final stop of the year for the Trees for Troops event. With us today were the Richardsons from Richardsons Tree Farm. The Richardsons are National Christmas Tree Association members, and donated trees for the second year in a row. They wanted to be on hand to see the troops take delivery of the trees.

Trees for Troops--Columbus, OH--November 15, 2005 : Trees for Troops is a nationwide program to deliver holiday spirit to the families of activated troops. FedEx is partnering with the Christmas Spirit Foundation to coordinate the program in its start-up year. Christmas tree farms in 15 states, all members of the National Christmas Tree Association are donating 3,000 trees for the program. 200 trees from Columbus were packaged and shipped via international transport to Qatar where they will be distributed military personnel stationed in the Middle East. 3,000 trees will be distributed domestically to families of military personnel serving our country overseas.
